Q: How is ‘Kotha Malupu’ different from your debut film ‘Sarkaru Noukari’?
Akash: Sarkaru Noukari was a period drama, whereas Kotha Malupu belongs to a completely different genre. It is a village-based romantic love-and-suspense entertainer set in the beautiful backdrop of Konaseema. Along with love, comedy, and emotions, the film carries an intriguing suspense element that keeps the story moving. I believe it will offer audiences a fresh cinematic experience. Interestingly, veteran director A. Kodandarami Reddy garu suggested the title, which perfectly suits the story.
Q: Tell us about your character in the film.
Akash: My character is very energetic and relatable to today’s youth. It reflects their emotions and mindset. Compared to my first film, I worked harder to improve my performance. I paid special attention to my body language and expressions. With guidance from senior actors and valuable suggestions from my mother, I learned a lot and enhanced my acting skills.
Q: What attracted you most to this story?
Akash: When director Shiva Varaprasad narrated the story, the twists impressed me immensely. The character itself was something I immediately connected with—it is fun, lively, and entertaining. True to the title Kotha Malupu (New Twist), the story contains several unexpected turns that audiences won’t be able to predict. The director has beautifully showcased the scenic beauty of Konaseema while blending it with strong commercial elements.

Akash: Mythri Movie Distributors has been a huge strength for our film. Having such a reputed distribution company release our movie has increased audience confidence. They came forward because they believed in the content. Their support will definitely help the film reach a wider audience.
Q: Tell us about your on-screen chemistry with heroine Bhairavi Ardya.
Akash: In the film, we play cousins (bava-maradalu) in a village setting. The love story, playful arguments, and fun moments between our characters will entertain audiences. The director believes our pairing looks fresh and appealing on screen.
Q: What was your mother Sunitha’s reaction after watching the film?
Akash: My mother was extremely happy after watching the film. She felt the output was excellent and strongly believes audiences will enjoy it. When it comes to my career, she gives me complete freedom in choosing scripts, but she is always there to encourage and support me. Even during the promotions of this film, she has been a tremendous source of strength.

Akash: Producer Thati Balakrishna garu never compromised on quality. He ensured that everything required for the story was provided. Special care was taken to capture the beauty of Konaseema in a grand yet natural way. Though it is not a big-budget film, every frame reflects quality production values. He supported the entire cast and crew wholeheartedly and worked with great passion. His encouragement made the entire shooting process very comfortable for us. Audiences will definitely notice the quality and richness on screen.

Akash: Senior actors like Raghu Babu, Prithviraj, and Prabhavathi played important roles in the film. Their experience was invaluable to us.
