It is known that the Telangana government recently announced the ‘Gaddar’ film awards to honor the contributions of luminaries in Telugu cinema. These awards have created a buzz among the film industry as well as all the art lovers across the state. However, members of the Urdu film industry are making a heartfelt appeal to the state government. These awards should be extended to Urdu language films as well. Just as the three best Telugu films were honored every year from 2014 to 2023, they want Urdu cinema to be honored as well. They humbly request that at least one Urdu film be honored with an award every year. This move will not only recognize the artistry in Urdu cinema, but also serve as a strong incentive for filmmakers working in this language. Over the past few decades, the Urdu film industry has produced many commendable films, which reflect the linguistic, cultural and artistic traditions of our society. Renowned artists Ahsan Khan, Aziz Rizwan and Raju Rajendra Prasad recently met MLC Aamir Ali Khan and presented a joint petition on behalf of the Urdu film industry. In this meeting, they reminded that recognition, support and development are needed from the government for the promotion of Urdu language media and cultural arts. They stated that there is a need for artists and creators in the Urdu industry to unite and move forward. Through this movement, they expressed their determination to take up this issue with the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy garu and the Minister for Cinematography Shri Komatireddy Venkat Reddy garu. We humbly request you to support this just movement and bring it to the notice of the concerned authorities.
