Dr. YSR’s death anniversary celebrated in Manthapuri
Aleru, September 2: Former Chief Minister Dr. YSR distributed fruits to children in the village school on the occasion of his death anniversary in Mantapuri village of Aleru mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Speaking at the event held on this occasion, TPCC General Secretary Palle Srinivas Goud said that Rajasekhara Reddy was known for his straightforwardness and outspokenness in politics. Rajasekhara Reddy, who showed interest in politics since his college days, held the post of minister in the state government from 1980-83. He was elected 4 times from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. He won 6 times from Pulivendula Assembly constituency. He served as the Leader of Opposition in the state legislature and twice as the President of the State Pradesh Congress Committee. From 1980 to 1983, he held key ministerial posts such as Rural Development, Medical Department, Education Department. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy served as the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee twice. The first time was from 1983 to 1985 and the second time was from 1998 to 2000. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the 11th Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2004. He recalled the occasion when he also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the 11th Legislative Assembly. In the summer of 2003, he undertook a padayatra and traveled 1,467 kilometers. Palle Srinivas Goud stated that the padayatra not only gained good popularity for YS personally but also helped the Congress Party come to power in the subsequent elections. After the Congress Party won the majority of seats in the 12th Legislative Assembly elections held in May 2004, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who had already made a name for himself in the party, assumed the Chief Minister’s chair. Not only did he gain popularity through the padayatra, but after taking office as the Chief Minister, he gave priority to free electricity for agriculture, completion of pending irrigation projects and water yagnas during the election campaign. He said that the Congress party worked hard to win the majority of seats in the 13th Legislative Assembly elections held in April 2009 and took charge of the Chief Minister’s office for the second consecutive term. Bandi Naganna, Village Branch President Nomula Chandu, Kasturi Venkatesh, Gummadi Somulu, Koruturu Siddhulu, Palle Rajalu, Aili Srinu, Koruturi Satish, Maragani Narasaiah, MD Sharif, Bitkuri Mallaiah and others participated in this program and paid tribute to Dr. YSR.
