The first Pan India movie to come out as a Sankranti gift is “Game Changer”. This movie, directed by sensational director Shankar and starring global star Ram Charan, was released on a grand scale today (10 January 2025). So how is this movie? Let’s find out whether it has met the expectations set before its release…
Story: Bobbili Satya Murthy (Srikanth) continues as the Chief Minister of AP in the name of Abhyudayam Party. But his son Bobbili Mopi Devi (SJ Surya), who is also a minister, has always had his eye on the CM’s chair. In this context, Ram Nandan (Ram Charan) comes to the same AP as the Collector. Ram Nandan, who has become an IAS officer from an IPS officer, is transferred to his hometown Vizag. In AP, CM Bobbili Satya Murthy has headaches from his sons Bobbili Mopi Devi and Ramachandra in terms of party and corruption in the government. Unexpectedly, the CM falls seriously ill. At that time, both the sons pin their hopes on the CM’s chair. But CM Satya Murthy declares Ram Nandan as the Chief Minister and his successor. Why did Ram Nandan change from IPS to IAS? What problems did CM Satyamurthy face from his sons? Why did Ram Nandan declare Satyamurthy as the CM? Why did Ram Nandan refuse the CM post? What kind of shock did Ram Nandan give to Mopi Devi by handing over the CM post? Why did his love affair with Deepika (Kiara Advani) break down? Why did Ram Nandan distance himself from his parents Appanna (Ram\m Charan) and Parvati (Anjali)? What were the differences between Appanna and CM Satyamurthy? How did Ram Nandan finally check Mopi Devi’s hopes for the CM post and save AP from the demonic rule? And what was the battle between him and Mopi Devi? Why did Satyamurthy declare Ram Nandan as the Chief Minister of AP in this order? What did Mopi Devi, who thought she would be the Chief Minister, do? How did the political war between Ram Nandan and Mopi Devi go? To know what all this has to do with Appanna (aka Ram Charan), the original founder of the Abhyudaya Party, you have to watch the film on the silver screen…
Analysis: Director Shankar has been successful in trying to show what his fans have been wanting for the past few years. Although the story is by Karthik Subbaraj, the way he has handled the story with his mark and strong emotions is good. He has brought out the best from every actor. The way he has handled the screenplay engages the audience in the movie. Overall, his work is good for the movie. Not only Ram Charan fans but also Shankar fans have been eagerly waiting for this movie. And it will not fall short of their expectations. As Shankar said about the movie, the movie runs with a crazy screenplay with solid mass elements that look at the audience all the way to the screen without looking back and forth. The elevations or some twists in the movie are very interesting. Apart from these, Shankar’s mark also has some new ideas, like the mass scenes seen in his politically related movies. Those emotions that have become important in Shankar’s movies. There is no need to mention the kind of performances that Shankar has shown from his heroes. And in ‘Game Changer’, Ram Charan also shocked with his unpredictable performance. This film is a political satire made by director Shankar, targeting the chaotic governance that has been going on in Andhra Pradesh since the last five years. Using the political conflict between the former CM of AP and the current Deputy CM as fuel for the story, Shankar has made it a story of a collector who maintains clean public governance. It must be said that director Shankar has succeeded in trying to target the opposition leader in AP and use his cinematic weapon against corruption. Otherwise, from the pre-climax to the last frame, his vision seems to have gone astray. The film ends with the story of Mopi Devi, a collector who puts a stop to the illegal businesses of Ramachandra Reddy, who is involved in sand, iron mining, and marijuana business in AP.. and wins the first half with a love story in his college in the middle. However, it must be said that Shankar has succeeded in creating hype in the second half by giving a good twist with a magnificent interval episode when it seems to be a routine. In the first half, he has shown Appanna, Satyamurthy’s journey, as well as the public struggles with Parvathy in an interesting way, as expected, and shared a new experience with the audience. It must be said that the sentiment between Ram Nandan and Parvathy (mother and son) has turned emotional in the second half. The mother sentiment scenes have worked well. When everything was going well, the election move has changed the positive feeling about the film to negative. It must be said that ending the movie with a lot of scenes from pre-climax to the end card and fighting is disappointing. Game Changer is a regular political drama made with power pact characters. I felt that this movie would have had a different impact if it had come before the AP elections. Shankar’s abandonment of some logic in this movie is unacceptable. But the way he elevated the sentiment of Mother is good. If you want to get a good experience with the performances of Ram Charan, Suriya, Anjali, and Srikanth, you will be thrilled if you watch it in the theater. Such stories are nothing new to mega fans during the Sankranti festival. Also, the first ten to fifteen minutes of the first half are a bit so-so. It would have been better if the introduction fight on Ram Charan had been planned better. Also, the visuals of the song “Jarkandi” are not good in the movie, right down to the VFX. Thaman and SJ Surya gave a lot of hype to that song but it is not in that range. Also, some scenes in the second half may seem light and routine here and there. Along with this, it would be good if Appanna’s character was shown for a little longer. The moving emotions and mass masala political scenes in the film engage the audience. However, the story is a bit routine and there are scenes that seem okay in some places.
Whoever did it… it can be said that the actors competed and gave a performance. Ram Charan showed his acting versatility as Ram Nandan and Appanna. He showed amazing diversity in both roles as a collector and a public leader. There is no doubt that Ram Charan has definitely given another iconic performance that will remain in his career. A chittibabu in ‘Rangasthalam’, now it must be said that Appanna is a game changer. The actor in him impresses the audience in an unexpected way. The innocence in the role of Appanna definitely deserves a hat-off for the dedication he showed for that role. Similarly, Charan gives a treat in stylish looks as well as in his young looks as Ram Nandan. The variations in him according to the context in the film are just amazing. And as Mopi Devi, SJ Surya flaunts a power pact character. He acted with Ram Charan in the role of Nuvva Nena. Anjali gave the best performance in the role of Parvathy and gave a lot of emotion to the film. Some of those roles in Charan’s career will also remain in Anjali’s career. Anjali acted wonderfully in her role. Some of the scenes that come with her do not seem to move the heart but are human. In some scenes, she cultivated emotion that makes you cry. Actor Srikanth was also seen in a good role. Jayaram and Samudrakhani did full justice to their roles. Sunil, Naveen Chandra, Rajiv Kanakala did not seem to care. Also, SJ Surya, who played the villain role, showed his mark of villainy. Some scenes where Charan and him are fighting give the audience a good treat. Also, he gave a solid performance in his role with his mannerisms and looks. And heroine Kiara Advani, along with her glamour, also appears in a key role in the film and entertains as an actress. Also, Sunil will be seen in a small supporting role after a long time. And a comedy scene on comedy Brahma Brahmanandam is good. Jairam entertains in a comic role. The songs and grand visuals in the film are mesmerizing. Also, Shankar Mark’s hard-hitting emotions are ripe in the film. Also, the powers of an IAS officer and many politically charged scenes in the first and second half are applauded.
When it comes to technical aspects.. Thaman’s background score, songs, and Thiru’s cinematography are the special attractions of this film. The songs are beautifully shot in the film. The graphic work is good. Editing is not as good as the performance of other departments. All the expenses that Dil Raju has put in this film are visible. The production values followed by Dil Raju are good. However, the VFX needs to be done better. The song “Jargaandi” will disappoint in theaters. All the other songs are crazy thoughts at a level that is not up to Shankar’s standards. Many people may have doubts about Thaman, but he definitely gave it up to Shankar’s standards. Overall, this emotional and political war can be watched comfortably.
