The 131st All India Brahmo Conference was inaugurated today at Kutchi Bhavan, Eden Gardens, Hyderabad. More than 350 delegates from across the country Kolkata, Indore, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Bangalore, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bangladesh attended the Conference. Before the Brahmos took their Pledge to rededicate themselves to One and only God, and to conduct themselves most diligently with their own conscience as witness.

Dr Arup Kumar Das, President, All India Brahma Samaj from Delhi unfurled the Brahmo flag. The Upasana was conducted jointly by Dr. S. Joag and Dr. Sushama Joag, who gave excellent message to the young and old, with interesting anecdotes. The inaugural commenced with a Vedic Recitation by young and senior Brahmos.

The Chief Guest Justice G Chandraiah, Chairman, Telangana Human Rights Commission addressed the Conference very highly about the long and impressive history of Brahmo Samaj, which has strived throughout to remove untouchability, descrimination towards the downtrodden. He praised Raja Rama Mohan Roy as the great social reformer who accomplished to get the barbaric practices Sati sahagamana along with many other social evils. He also said humanity is capable of reaching its highest potential when everyone is willing to change and have an open mind to accept the vision of great social reformers. He also said “Love and Service are the only key words, which can uplift the world from the narrow mindedness and dogmatic fights taking place across the country and the world ” He encouraged Brahmos to take this up as a crusade and propagate this axiom not just in India but Internationally.

The Guest of Honour Smt Y Padmavathi Rahul Sastri spoke inspiringly retracing the history of Brahma Samaj. She also mentioned that Brahma Samaj has a very special significance for her as it upholds the dignity and honour of women. She mentioned extensively various articles of Indian Constitution and said that most of the core principles of Brahma Samaj and its mission are in total sync with it. Brahma Samaj according to her, is wonderful solutions to all social evils with a spiritual perspective. Sri Challa Keshav Chand, President of Deccan Brahma Samaj welcomed the gathering and said that this conference is unique as it is being conducted by youngsters. Smt.
